Olympic gymnast Simone Biles is used to competing in figure-baring leotards – but she took a break from the performance wear to show off her athletic physique in a series of racy swimsuit shots, leaving her fans and followers stunned in the process. 

The 23-year-old – who is the most decorated female gymnast in history – shared several images of herself modeling a risque strapless orange bathing suit that knotted up in the front of her body, allowing her to bare plenty of skin. 

She topped off the warm-weather look with a chic sunhat, and joked in her caption that she was dreaming of ‘being on a beach in Thailand‘ but would happily settle for the sprawling backyard of her home in Houston, Texas.

Simone was clearly delighted with the way the suit looked, because she continued her fashion show on Instagram Stories, snapping several other mirror selfies, and even posting a video of herself turning this way and that to show off the skimpy design from different angles. 

The gymnast is clearly not the only fan of the bathing suit – at least if the hundreds of compliments from commenters are anything to go by.

Within minutes of the photos going live, Simone’ post had been flooded with messages from admirers, who labeled her a ‘queen’ and praised the funky swimwear. 

Fellow Olympic gymnast Nastia Liukin, who kept things simple by commenting a fire emoji – while another member of the US National Team, Ashton Locklear, wrote: ‘Hottttt,’ alongside a sweating emoji. 

Simone’s boyfriend, NFL player Jonathan Owens was also impressed by the snaps, commenting with the same sweating emoji that Ashton shared. 

Former Bachelor star Ashlee Frazier also waxed lyrical about the candid snaps, writing: ‘Oh my gosh. That is so cute.’

Simone has been hard at work training for the upcoming Olympics – which are currently due to take place between July and August of this year, despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, which saw the Games delayed for 12 months. 

2020 was a difficult year for Simone, who told Vogue that she felt ‘torn and broken’ by the news that the 2020 Olympics had been postponed.  

The gymnast faced another serious roadblock in her journey to the next Games: the temporary closure of her home gym, which shut down for several months amid the pandemic before reopening in May.  

Simone felt adrift without her rigorous training schedule that has become a trusted emotional outlet for so many years. 

‘You go to work out and you release endorphins. You get any anger out. It’s kind of our oasis,’ she said in an interview featured in the magazine’s August issue. ‘Without that, you’re stuck at home with your own thoughts.

In addition to dealing with the pandemic, and the huge impact that had on her training and her Olympic hopes, Simone was also dealing with the end of her first serious relationship with fellow gymnast Stacey Ervin Jr. 

The couple split in early March after three years together, with Simone admitting that while she struggled with the break-up, she knows that it was ‘for the best.’

Simone is now dating fellow athlete Jonathan, whom she recently paid tribute to in an interview with the Today’s show’s Hoda Kotb. 

‘He’s a real man. I just, I love him. We have a great time together,’ she said.

‘Our personalities match right up. We have the same sense of humor. And he’s just great. He’s an athlete, too, so we really understand each other and I think that’s why our relationship has been seamless.’
