Prince Charles: Inside his royal estate Dumfries House - 'something for everyone'

July 2024 · 1 minute read

Regarded as one of the most significant properties within the Commonwealth, shockwaves ran through Britain when it was up for sale, prompting Prince Charles and the Prince’s Trust to raise funds to save the Dumfries in 2007.

The stately home opened in 2008, for the first time in 250 years, for royal fans to explore its original 18th-century furnishings and incredible interiors.

In 2007, Charles and his charity The Prince’s Foundation purchased Dumfries House, which is set on 2,000 acres and boasts a stunning 18th-century house and adventure playground.

Unlike other royal homes, the estate is not intended as a residence for the couple. Instead, it is used for a range of education and training opportunities, and it is open to the public all year round with “something for everyone” according to its website.
