Pat Harlow resigned Wednesday, May 12 as the football coach at JSerra.

Harlow coached the Lions for four seasons. They were 22-17 during his tenure.

“There were a lot of things that went into the decision and it wasn’t easy for me to do,” Harlow, 52, said by text message. “It just felt like the right time for me to step down.”

Harlow added that he has no immediate coaching plans.

JSerra finished 0-5 in the 2021 spring football season. All five games were Trinity League games. They lost the five games by an average margin of 45 points.

The Lions’ best season during Harlow’s tenure was the 2018 season in which they finished 9-3 overall and were third in the Trinity League (3-2 league). JSerra defeated Long Beach Poly in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs before losing by one point to Oaks Christian in the second round.

Harlow was a standout offensive lineman at USC, where he was the conference’s lineman of the year, and taken in the first round of the 1991 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots. He started in 94 games over an eight-year NFL career. Harlow was penalized for holding only four times in those eight seasons.

Harlow and his wife Jennifer have three sons including Arizona Cardinals offensive lineman Sean Harlow, who played at San Clemente High.
