During the season 2 reunion for Love Is Blind, Kyle Abrams, one of the 30 contestants, mentioned that he should have tried harder with other connections he made in the pods and not focus solely on Shaina Hurley. Hurley and Abrams had one of the most discussed relationships from this season. This couple was one that the show focused on and their relationship was among those that did not have a happy ending. In the beginning, Abrams and Hurley shared good times in the pods and they had made a strong connection. Things seemed good for the two until Abrams expressed that he was an atheist; Hurley is a Christian. She explained that this would be a problem for their relationship as she needed a God-fearing husband and she felt as though her other connection with Shayne Jansen would be better for her- Jansen never expressed that he was a man of faith.

Despite her doubt in her relationship with Abrams, she hesitantly agreed to marry him and accepted his mother’s engagement ring. While Abrams left the pods feeling happy that he found his forever person, Hurley was headed to another pod room to finally tell Jansen she had deep feelings for him; Jansen rejected her expression and proposed to Natalie Lee. When Hurley and Abrams met face-to-face, their chemistry was blatantly poor and during this time, Hurley expressed that she was unsure about their relationship. Despite the uncertainty, Abrams was hopeful the relationship would survive once they got to Mexico, but the relationship only got worse from here when Hurley left the country. Surprisingly, Hurley decided to introduce Abrams to her family, and because of his religious backing, Hurley’s family did not approve of the relationship. A while after, Hurley met with Abrams to end the engagement, and Abrams was left feeling as though Hurley did not try as hard as she could to make their relationship work.
At the season’s reunion, after having a discussion with Hurley about her true reason for ending the engagement, Abrams revealed that he had made two other connections in the pods and wished he have fought harder. According to Us Weekly, Abrams stressed regretting not pursuing Deepti Vempati, who was engaged to Abishek “Shake” Chatterjee. Abrams spoke directly to Vempati and said, “That’s what I learned the most. I f***ed up. I should have tried harder for you. I love her so much, she’s the best. And I wish I saw what was right in front of me and that’s my biggest regret. I’m sorry.” Fans were surprised when this revelation was made as there was never any sign of affection between the two on the show. There was only one moment during episode 4 when the engaged contestants were meeting each other that Vempati expressed that she was looking forward to seeing Abrams.
It is speculated that Abrams’ announcement caused tension between him and Chatterjee. While still separated from the women, the two seemed to be friendly with each other and once the engaged couples moved to Mexico, the two did not spend much time together as Abrams’ vacation was cut short due to Hurley deciding to leave Mexico. So, it was quite a surprise when Chatterjee took to Instagram to publicly bash Abrams by calling him “ratatouille,” and accusing Abrams of being a serial cheater, among many other negative comments. At the time when Chatterjee was posting online, the reunion had already been filmed, and therefore, Chatterjee would have been privy to Abrams’ confession for the veterinarian’s ex-fiance. Thus, the negative comments about Abrams could be due to Abrams confessing his love for Vempati. Fans watched as Chatterjee told several of the male contestants, and even in confessionals, that he loved Vempati and he appreciated their emotional connection, but he was not physically attracted to her. Since the reunion episode has aired, Chatterjee has unfollowed most of his castmates, including Abrams and Vempati.
Though Vempati did not have a grand reaction to Abrams’ statements during the reunion, the two have been spending time together. Just recently, several of the castmates attended a Chicago Fire soccer game, and Nick Thompson, another contestant from season 2 of Love Is Blind, shared an image to his Instagram page where Abrams and Vempati can be seen standing with each other. The two have also been commenting under each other’s Instagram posts. Notably, Vempati shared an image of the cast at the reunion and it was captioned, “Oh but I did find love,” to which Abrams commented, “Did you?” The two have neither confirmed nor denied the allegations about their relationship but most fans seem to agree that the two would be perfect for each other.
