His character, nightclub manager Jackie, was Susie’s (Alex Borstein) boss who ran the Gaslight, the Greenwich Village club where ‘Midge’ Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan) was discovered.

He moved into Susie’s apartment in Season 3 while she and Midge were on tour, and was absent in the first two episodes of Season 4.

In Episode 3, “Everything Is Bellmore,” Jackie died suddenly of a stroke.

At his funeral, only four people show up. Susie then grabs his picture and crashes a stranger’s ceremony.

“I can’t talk about him to an empty room, that’s not how it should go,” she says in an emotional eulogy. “I’m really sorry about this lady. I’m sure she was very nice too.”

The actor’s history with the show’s creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino, went back many years to when he played Bootsy on the Gilmore Girls from 2001 to 2002, as well as in Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life in 2016.
