Ciara while serving as a guest host on The Ellen DeGeneres Show fought back tears while interviewing Normani in a sneak peek of Thursday’s episode.

The 36-year-old singer in a leather wrap-around dress sat down with Normani, 25, who she introduced during her VMA performance of Wild Side earlier this year.

‘That really meant a lot to me for you to be able to share that moment,’ said Normani who wore a leather jacket and matching skirt.

‘You’re somebody that I’ve looked up to forever. I’ve always felt like representation was so key and being a little girl in my grandmother’s living room, learning the 1, 2 Step, Goodies,’ Normani said referencing Ciara’s hit songs.

Normani told Ciara that she was part of the earliest memories she had and helped shape her as an artist and as a woman.

‘You opened my mind to those possibilities. Like, Black girl magic,’ Normani said. ‘I love you.’

Ciara also congratulated Normani on her song Wild Side reaching number one on Urban Radio.

Normani also said her upcoming solo debut studio album was ‘almost done’.

She admitted that she was afraid to show her father the Wild Side music video that also features Cardi B as clips showed in the background.

‘We had to censor the Cardi, you know, because it’s daytime television,’ Ciara quipped.
